Procurement Strategy

Building a Multi-Product Egypt Sourcing Strategy

The greatest value in an origin can come from more than one crop. Buyers sourcing several product families from Egypt can use the calendar, supplier network and logistics relationships more strategically - provided each line still receives the specification and quality control it requires.

Build an annual crop map

Plot your required products against their typical Egyptian windows and your existing origin calendar. This identifies where Egypt can extend a season, provide an alternative source or create a concentrated promotional opportunity.

Avoid assuming one supplier should do everything

A supplier excellent at citrus is not automatically the strongest option for onions, grapes or strawberries. Multi-product sourcing should preserve crop-specific expertise while looking for efficiencies in communication, logistics and commercial coordination.

Standardise the buyer brief

Use a consistent internal template covering specification, pack, volume, destination, certification, delivery terms and quality-release procedure. This makes supplier comparison easier across product categories.

Review performance by programme

Track arrival quality, claims, documentation accuracy, lead time, communication and service - not only price. The result should be a preferred supplier network that becomes stronger over successive seasons.
